Description
Longs Peak is the only "Fourteener" in the Park. The first recorded ascent was in 1868 by the surveying party of John Wesley Powell. The same person that Lake Powell is named after. The East Face is quite steep and is surmounted by a gigantic sheer cliff known as "THe Diamond". The Keyhole shown in the photo is the normal area of the ascent. Look for the history of the climb and you will see photos of women in boots and dresses making the ascent to the top. The photo was made to look like it was taken at the turn of the century.

Wonderful place, but steep climb, especially for women in dresses. They were courageous. Congratulations for atmosphere of the photo.
