Glenda and I hired a taxi driver in Cartagena to take us all over the city. It is a very beautiful place with a wonderful mixture of ancient buildings and modern ones. You see iguanas a lot there. They are not pets, but as seen here some people do put out scraps to encourage them to live in their yard as they are helpful at keeping pests under control. Our guide did say many of the folks there eat iguana stew. It is mostly due to an ancient tradition. The male iguana has 2 penis and since they are so good at creating new little iguanas, the men were convinced by eating iguana stew they would improve thier fertility and be able to produce more children which was a good thing to have more help on the plantations. The fertility beliefs are now behind us but many folks still eat them out of tradition.

Iguanas Stew??.....Somehow that just does not make my taste buds dance....rofl!...So I'm guessing they taste like chicken too??....Sorry I'll stick with chicken that tastes like chicken myself...lol...Cool Capture either way Jim!

Excelant color composition, with the blue bars in the bkg, the lettuce and the browns in the bkg, even the stone. They all relate to the colors in this very healthly looking Iguana. Crisp and clear image of the beautiful Iguana. Thank you for sharing this photo, it's great.
