Please excuse the quality of the image! I shot this out the sunroof of the car with my iPhone. (Bill was behind the wheel and we were stopped at the light, so no photographers were harmed in the making of this picture.)
It might seem like an odd birthday gift, but Rod will understand. (Not that we've ever gotten our wires crossed, but honestly ... what else could I have called it?) When I saw this elegant conglomeration, all I could think was, "I've got to get this shot for Rod!"

Interesting shot. But when you know what's really going on there, you know all those extra curved ones are there to see the wires do NOT get crossed. Some have insulators on each end are set in a way to see they stay the correct distance from each other while not moving much, relative to each other, in the wind. While the others could have either insulators or power transferring connectors, there's not enough definition for me to be sure. Anyway, it's still an intriguing shot.
Aha yes! The man with the insulator collection if I recall! Really rather interesting, and very complex, for sure!

If it weren't for the traffic light in a distinctly this side of the Atlantic sort of shape and overall light-to-pole ratio, I'd think you were on the curvy quasi corner of Vodickova Street and Lazarska, in Prague...right where all of the tram cables do that amazingly complicated thing that makes you think of the handiwork of overindustrious spiders. Needless to say: I love this shot and the linear-ness of it. And knowing of Rod's insulator collection, I can see exactly how and why this is the super-perfect birthday gift!
