Description

Bombycilla cedrorum. When I first became aware of this bird, I thought, Oh how pretty he is! And I thought, that's a bird I will only see in New England in snow, or something. So I was quite surprised to learn they visit Arizona! This was the second season I was aware of them. I later learned Cedar Waxwings are winter birds for the southern United States, from coast to coast. I always love it when they show up in bright plumage. He was feasting on the mulberry tree in Fort Lowell Park. I tasted the mulberries, and they weren't too bad. Needless to say, I will be back to see him again next year.
