Description
It is a tribute to the charms of the Nepalese that the man who had tried to cheat me with fiberglass chess pieces still managed to sell me something. As an apology he told me he would find something special for me. It turned out to be a small figurine, a carving of The Buddha in soft stone. It looked well used, probably from some family's home shrine. He assured me it was only a few years old. I have had it for thirty-two years so now it is a bona fide antique. I guess you could say it is 'veddy, veddy old'.

nice carving.I admire people that can carve stone
this is wonderful! doesn't really matter if it wasn't an atique .. it has beauty and it holds some great memories!
How beautiful! Thanks for sharing front and back ... sometimes the back is almost better than the front! :) (Your thumb is the same as yesterday's and doesn't match this post, btw, in case you care.)
Here we have 'the real McCoy' now - pardon me, BUDDHA ;) and somehow, he does look ancient ... and how beautiful he is, so different from the many I have seen, nobody can pull the wool over your eyes Mark! LOL BTW he comes across, as if he made from some metal? (of course we do know better than that now) thanks for sharing him with us, BB
Well done on the 'genuine article'! Things are not antique here till they are at least 100 , even if they look it, so hope for me yet.
Wonderful piece of carved stone

wonderfully aged piece, it looks to have lovingly handled many times
Great, Mark! the carving is magnificent.Surely comes from a great mold....I mean .... craftsman :) After all, things acquire value as they are to us, so this figurine is also veddy veddy valuable. (I just remembered the Tweety's accent. Could he be Nepalese?)
