Yes, it's that time of year again, when I shamelessly, perhaps tragically, wish myself a Happy Birthday.
I could dwell on the negatives, like all the goals I've never met and the dwindling amount of time I have left to reach them. Or, the misfortune of being born on a day when most people around here are not in a festive mood. Instead, I will emphasize the following:
- I am old enough that I can buy spray paint without looking suspicious.
- I am old enough that there's nothing in Abercrombie & Fitch that I would want.
- I am old enough to run for President... Not that I would want to.
- I am old enough that being in love with "Stacy's Mom" would not seem weird. (It's a song, you know.) Possibly even with "Mrs. Robinson!"
- I am both too old AND too young to have a valid reason to want a used Lincoln Town Car.
- And most importantly, I am NOT old enough to get a reverse mortgage. Send my apologies to Fonzie and Trapper John.
So, that's about it. I will celebrate however I can, and make the most of it. And... I wouldn't exactly reject any well-wishes from the peanut gallery......
