Description
Taken at the Oakland Zoo. We all had a great time watching this meerkat doing sentry duty for his clan. He stood erect in one place, looking out & twisting his head in one direction after another.
To MrsRatbag, who asked about the "ski lift" at the zoo, yes, it's still there, but we didn't ride it on this visit...

what a cute shot!
This is a wonderful shot of this very endearing meerkat.
Great job. So typical of them :)
how could you not love a Meerkat, and you have done great justice to this particular one
Such a cute capture and pose. Wonderful work. Aloha
lovely little guy, beautiful capture
A superb shot. You wouldn't even know it is in a zoo.
Lovely and fun expression. Wonderful capture and postwork. Bravo
This looks like a little old man of the species, on duty because somebody has to keep watch for those dumb kids...or something like that. These are such adorable creatures and this is a perfect shot and treatment. I love the texture you've added: that vague stippling looks incredible.
Amazing photo and pose!
Keeping a watchful eye out on the terrain!
What a cutie these little guys are so funny to watch great capture.
He looks quite a well-fed fellow; isn't it funny that they still do this sentry behaviour even in zoos, where theoretically there aren't any predators? Wonderful capture!
Superb!!!! 5+!!!
Everyone loves meerkats and they are so family oriented.
