Description
Holly just captured this image of these baby birds in my hands. The parents have been nesting about three feet of of our deck, up in the lilac bush about 4 feet off the ground, for weeks now.
We went out to feed our koi and the momma bird was having a fit!
Sadly, the babies bailed out of the nest. One landed in our koi pond and I ran down to rescue it. The other landed on the ground and I picked that one up too.
Contrary to what many people believe, birds DO NOT abandon their chicks if they smell human scent on their babies. Birds have VERY limited sense of smell and DO NOT abandon their babies if they smell humans on them.
So, we HOPE these babies and their momma will be happily reunited and they will fledge and grow up to have babies of their own.
Can you guess what kind of birds these are?

Oh hon, I love this picture of your gentle hands holding these precious little baby birds!!! Don't worry, I won't spill the beans on what kind they are, LOL..but they are very sweet!!! I'll look forward to seeing people's guesses as to what type of birds these are!
looks like the beginnings of the Angry Birds Robin is my guess
maybe Sparrows? there was some doves with a nest in my gutter and when I was taking a picture of them they(2) jumped out and fell to the ground. I put them back and the next day they left the nest for good. for several weeks a dove kept hanging around my house.I like to think that they felt a connection
I don't have the foggiest idea, bird aren't my thing, cool photo though! excellently done!
My guess is sparrows. I'm sure glad you saved them. Keep us updated!
They look like grackles or cow birds. Aw you are a good human......
without seeing the image with that title, i was thinking t-bird, giving somone the bird, cool shot! did not know you had baby birds Mike. hope they make it my friend.
Ohhh.....Adorable and cute friend, lovely capture!
Hehe - well, since I have an inside track, I won't spoil everyone's fun guessing. Just remember - ugly babies often grow up to be beautiful adults... Very cool shot, Mike! I hope they make it and live a long life! Glad you rescued them, buddy!
i love birds and i have no idea what kind they are... i've always heard what you where demything and perhaps that is all it is...a myth that parents tell to their children like 'tooth fairy' and 'santa claus'...i wish them health and long life... chills and thrills
Lovely image!
no clue - LOL
Grabbing at straws...sparrows. I am probably totally wrong. If I could see the adult MAYBE a better ID. Sweet and gentle hold you have on them. Good of you to take the time for rescues. I love to watch our birds around here, but have seen few babies to know one from another (seen one baby bird, you've seen them all - lol ). ;o)
Mockingbirds! And if they don't sing, Mamas going to buy you a diamond ring!
I would guess that they're cardinals, but the Pats don't play them this week - lol I just looked up to see who your Pats face - Tenn. - good start.... I watched some NFL videos, the Pats haven't won the championship in 8 years??? since Spygate??? wow... This is the year of the Bronos - they are sharing it with the dragon - lol. ...I picked up Welker as my 3rd Fantasy Pick - I hope that drop in the Superbowl has him fired up this year - and I hope Brady's Wife stays clear of him - lol.... Are you ready for some football???!!
Well I would have to say they are LUCKY birds, lucky to have you around to rescue them especially the one in the Koi pond!! I have no idea what they are except very lucky you got them and not a cat!!
