Description
I found this when I was stacking the woodpile: a new species for me and therefore very exciting!
It was a most unco-operative poser, playng dead if touched! about 1/4", 6mm in length.

I suspect we have these people in Chicago as well; the ones here like damp, woody places (and truck yards) and I suspect that the word "cooperation" does not exist in any way in their native vocabulary. They're rather fine specimens of uncooperative attitudes, at least when they're not cooperating with a photographer interested in capturing them. You did a great job with this one. I rather like the shape of this little person, a bit like the ancient Egyptian god, Khepera, but Khepera was a dung beetle, and from what I hear, they are more cooperative, since their divine lineage endows them with just enough vanity to appreciate the presence of a camera lens. Okay...now that I've rambled (I tend to do that!) I'm going to simply sit back and enjoy this marvel of beetle-ness. I love the red legs!
