Description
Ok, so here is my promised counterpart to my previous "Skyline" posting. Really needs a full size view as this is a detail shot.
Here we see New York, or at least West Manhattan, as many of the residents here would like a visitor to realize "the" classic American metropolis.
Viva! Bright, colorful, vibrant, alive, energetic! Also a billboard advert for a delicious tropical juice/dairy mix that I thrived on during the scorching days that I was "trapped" there!
I have to admit that it is pretty neat that from virtually the same spot, and within a few hours of each other, I was able to realize two totally different artistic visions of this city. That does speak volumes for the power of the place. Big cities can and do hold their own magic if you are open to it.
More magic to follow shortly.
Kinda hard to believe this started as a photo. Perfect Effects, a CS plug in, gives you a tool kit of powerfull spells.

Beautiful colors in this shot!
Great vista! Little bit of a halo around the leftmost building, but lovely nonetheless.

What a great shot of NY, Roxy! And your postwork just MAKES this image! Really like this one - almost makes me want to pack my bags and head east!
Wow !!!! This one is so pretty and bright............ I zoomed in like you said.....lots to see for sure in the top uppper right hand corner that cloud beside the tall building looks like part of a man's face..I can see his nose and chin.........and his mouth... it is beside the big tall one and the small red building.........look in zoom and you can see it.......... I like them both.....................but I think I like the night time version the best........ altho nothing wrong with this one........that's for sure it's perfect...............but me I just perfer the black/white one.......... Hugs Susan~
Well Done
Dazzling skyline, vivid colors, beautiful post-work!
LOVE the vibrancy of this! When side by side, the black and white version and this vivid color version capture two completely different, yet valid feelings for this city. Great job!!
What a fun shot! This has both a superb, modern vibe to it, but also something a bit vintage as well. There are elements of this that make me think of it as bring one of those "modern" representations that architects and planning groups were always using back in the 1950s and 1960s; things in the USA were changing and getting a wee bit edgy, and so people were being both paranoid and optimistic at the same time. As a result of that, you started getting a wonderful mix of things, and this shot seems to embody that in a way. The details are amazing, stunning, and rich. The colors dance and jiggle around nicely, and then there are extra little details that give this a wholly different texture than its companion shot. All of that works together (for me) to create a kind of vintage feeling in which a totally realistic scene is presented, but then it has all of this extra stylized stuff to let you know that whatever it is you're looking at is also big enough to support your own vision of it. Sort of. Well...I don't really know if that makes any real sense, but that's the feeling I get from that shot and from old architectural mockup drawings I've seen over the years. Needless to say, I love this kind of stuff. This is truly great.
cool, excellent
Great cityscape capture!! Love the postwork!!
I like this impressionistic view of Manhattan & I think it's actually a closer representation of the reality than the dark silhouette skyline. I grew up in NYC (OK, Queens, which is really more of a suburb, but I did spend a lot of time in Manhattan) & while it sometimes seems dark & oppressive in the abstract & in retrospect, up close & personal (which is how people actually experience places) it is colorful & alive. And that's exactly what you've captured so well here...
Also grew up in Queens-Flushing. Last trip to the Manhattan the waves of people seemed to supply enough energy to fuel the planet. Painterly, vibrant, excellent rendition-you never stop being there in your heart, even though where you were is not the same.
It's a total: Wow!! Great and colorful capture compared to the former upload!! In zoom the city looks beautiful in your treatment!!! Congrats!!! :o)
This is a very beautiful!
