Description

on Inula hookeri. This very handsome species of hoverfly need muddy water for the larva. I keep a few shallow containers around the garden, in the hopes that the adults will lay in them. The pond is probably too clean!

Wonderful clear shot, Andrea; love his striped waistcoat. And mosquitoes were my first thought too, we have it drummed into us to remove all standing water to keep them away. West Nile Virus is breaking out in places here and there have been many deaths from it!
