Description
I was watching the meteor shower last night and took 60 one minute photos of M8 or the Lagoon Nebula.
The Lagoon Nebula is estimated to be between 4,000-6,000 light years from the Earth. Like many nebulas, it appears pink in time-exposure color photos but is gray to the eye peering through binoculars or a telescope. The nebula contains a number of Bok globules (dark, collapsing clouds of protostellar material). It also includes a funnel-like or tornado-like structure caused by a hot O-type star that emanates ultraviolet light, heating and ionizing gases on the surface of the nebula. The Lagoon Nebula also contains at its centre a structure known as the Hourglass Nebula. Kinda cool stuff. haha Thanks for reading and viewing.

An amazing capture! Love it!
I missed the meteor shower, but that's not too unexpected. We had clouds and so I would have missed it anyway. I love astrophotography and this is a perfect example of why! This is simply stunning. I love the details and the perfect clarity of this image. Wonderfully done!
This work of art is perfect. I thank you for it. 5+!
Classic astro-subject!
