"Shall we go twice round the field?" asked Zlata, jumping up & down. "I think once round would be enough." Jasmine told her. "But why? I want to go twice." said a sulky Zlata. Zwoggle was hoping that someone would suggest they only go halfway round the field as running wasn't his favourite thing. He wondered if the friends would notice if he just joined in halfway round. Meadow stepped in & said they would go once round the field, starting & ending at the gate. Although she was dissappointed, Zlata respected what Meadow had said. "Can I be the starter?" asked Zwoggle. Then he thought he might be able to get out of racing. "I am sure we can catch Hector Hedgehog on his way home from work so we will ask him. That will make it fair for everyone. Poor Zwoggle he would have to race now. They waited to see Hector & sure enough he was delighted to be part of the girls Olympic race & got them all to the line & started them off. He made his way to the finish, cutting across the field so as to be there before them. As you can see Meadow was going to be first over the finishing line. Jasmine was a very close second & was putting in her all at the end to be first but Meadow had run a good race. Poor Zlata, did get into difficulties & was secretly pleased that it was only once round the field. She was sure though that if she had suggested just going halfway round the field she would have won hands down. Bless her!! As he thought, Zwoggle was struggling, way behind, he was so out of breath, he decided if he tripped up he could then pretend that he had hurt his foot & walk back. Sounds good to me Zwoggle.
