Description

Work in Progress(12-08-08 new version). Minn.Firearms Co. The Protector. .32 Centrefire Extra Short (.32 Protector) made about 1890 by J Duckworth of Springfield Massachusetts. Model created in Autodesk Inventor, exported as .stl mesh, converted to .obj in MeshLab. 3D models assembled in DAZ Studio, rendered in LuxRender via pret-a-3D Reality. Image Based Lighting from 360x180 degree HDR image.

Excellent detailed modeling work. Did that weapon really works ? It must be burning the hand ... It seems as dangerous for the shooter than the target.

Thanks guys! This little thing must have been pretty expensive in its time, so it had better work too! More conventional small revolvers and pocket pistols like Derringers were a lot cheaper to make, but being able to shoot seven times in rapid succession from a barely visble handgun apparently made it very desirable. Never read a report by anyone actually firing it, and I certainly wouldn't dream of doing it myself. Highly unlikely someone ever will too since these things were made over 120 years ago!
