Description
Our annual trip up into the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This mountain range covers about 25 percent of the area, of state of New Hampshire, is part of the Appalachian Mountains and are considered the most rugged mountains in the six states that make up New England. According to tradition, the name came from early explorers who first sighted the mountains from ships, off the coast, and seeing the highest peaks that would often be snow-capped. An alternate theory is that the mica-laden granite, of the summits, looked white to observers. Thank you Wikipedia for that information.
The bear warnings are real and these signs are on every door. One of the mornings, two bears had the chamber maids trapped in the linen closet. The landscapers chased them off with water hoses. They really are not that big, they are NOT like Grizzle Bears. Do not bother to zoom. Yes, that is my shadow.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

very cool sign and great info Dana
Nicely done!!
I think bears are beautiful but I sure do not want a head on confrontation with any
YES SIR BEARS ARE VERY DANGEROUS :) Good idea!
cool bear warning. don't feed the bears.
I agree with Magik, the are very dangerous, cool shot Dana!
A warning to heed indeed. Nice shot.
lol they not to friendly. I never seen a black bear in the wild. there are some here in Louisiana but rarely I hear news of them. i read about them like David Crockett killed one with a knife. cool shot
Well, that beats squirrels, for sure!
fascinating sign, especially to one who only would see a bear in a zoo. Your background info was most helpful.
Sounds 'unbearable'................
Glad we don't have to worry about dangerous animals.
So glad you said that it was your shadow Dana, you had me worried for a moment!!
Interesting infos, Dana !
Wonderful capture and information, dear Dana. They would not be my cup of tea! Hugs for all day, bear ones!! Di. xx
Nice to see that the bears are seen as neighbours & NOT a menace to be shot. xxx
Bears are dangerous indeed, interesting infos, Dana!
Nice catch on this one and a little scary knowing that.
I used to have a real terror of bears, but never having run into one it's settled down a bit. I heard that there was one spotted last year on the next block, but I've never seen or heard any sign of one.
Look at that, when you're up there in the summer and when you're down here in the winter there is always something with big teeth that might try and eat you. ;D LOL! Wonderful sign capture! :)
Nice photoshot Dana.
well they are grumpy neighbors ;D
Warning read and noted. Other than that, not too much I can add to the above, Dana.
cool sign
This sign would surely get noticed and I hope you don't have a face to face encounter. I'm glad they aren't grizzlies you have.
Good advice while out among that area.
It makes a lot of sense, I will not give it a second thought. A nice post, Dana!
LOL!! Well Dana, we could actually use signs like that right here in Merrimack! We have four black bears (started out as a mom and two cubs) that make their rounds around the town. The other day one was spotted very close to our house. LOL...where were the maids trapped in the linen closet? Great sign!
Hey hey hey hey!! Boo Boo, I smell a pickanick basket!
I think I would the doors closed all the time!! ;o)
