For those of you who care about these things ...
Nobody had a chance to find out if this arrangement of stairs made for a good traffic flow or not. Middle Point (Manchester) was slated to have two guns to supplement the firepower at the facility on the other side of Rich Passage, but after the bunker was constructed, the powers that be decided the guns on the other side were sufficient. No guns were ever installed here, and the emplacement was never manned.

A few of you have asked about Bill, since he hasn't been around Renderosity very much lately. He's doing just fine! He's kicking back and enjoying the summer. We're camping in the motorhome and building a retaining wall at our summer lot. It's lots of work, but we're taking it slow and having a great time. Bill is doing most of the digging, and I'm moving gravel and stacking blocks. Mandy sits on the deck and supervises. She's very good at that, and can apparently do it in her sleep! :)

Great picture Tara, a good explanation for the weird arrangement of the stairs (maybe they thought if they confuse themselves that may confuse the enemy - if he ever gets there). And a good accounting of Bill's, yours, and Mandy's activities. Our temperatures are down some, we had some clouds and some rain, but very isolated. Yesterday the East Valley (about 20 to 40 miles east of me) had almost 1.5 inches of rain in an hour. US 60 was flooded briefly in both directions at Val Vista (8 lanes affected). Just west of Wickenburg, about 40 miles northwest of me they had 3.53 inches in 3 hours. All the affected areas had flash flooding. We didn't get anything - but it was cooler and cloudy for part of the day.
Two going up and two going down? ... I can imagine, only one going up and only one down, be even a greater problem! -oh, I think I worked it out: the narrow one(4steps) going to the WC, aha! and the one on the left leads you to the NORTH side and the one on the right points you to the EAST - I do love solving puzzles ;D I do like the right wall(canteen) with all that light and colouring, BB
OK - let me guess..... This place was designed by M.C. Escher, right?? LOL! What a great shot, Tara! I'd love to visit this place someday - you and Bill can be our guides! :-D Glad Bill is OK - I was starting to wonder. Just tell him to take it easy with that shovel and don't overdo... I'm sure the job will get done properly with Mandy's supervision.. LOL!
I love a good echo of Escher, and this is as good as they come. And to top it off, this has the whole vibe of some terribly interesting otherworldly place--or at least alt.reality place: maybe this could be an old Agaran bunker hub or something, though I don't see any stray, dead, dry Catalpa leaves in the corners and no cryptic graffiti. I love the patterns in this, the tones, the overall mood, the starkness of it and the everything-else-that-rocks parts of this. Simply stunning!
Someone else mentioned MC Escher. Damn!! I wanted to be the first lol. I also commented on your light an d glass image - this is similar you have a clear talent for unusual imaginative photography
Hmmm... very nice. Something to emulate for my up and coming rats? I bet they'd appreciate something like this. You sure did a nice job catching the architecture of this intersection without giving away much about what it's all about! This has got a bit of a surrealistic feel to it.
