Bob (choronr), this one's for you (ref. your suggestion of lighting to highlight more details). The first post was to accentuate the dark, somber tone of this notorious prison. This post is the same shot, but as it appeared straight out of the camera (with very minor PW).

very cool shot but I still like the first one better
Very good. Waiting for lightning might take a lot of trips.
A celebre place ,nice picture ((5++))
Spectacular capture of this famous and scary place friend, fantastic mood, thank you for sharing!
Gotta love that foggy city. This image is nice in that it has just the right amount! How funny, have an Alcatraz folder that I was just looking for a few days ago. It is still MIA, must have labeled it something other than Alcatraz..LOL!
Most excellent in capture and mood of such a scary place. :))))) Thank you for sharing. :))))) Carry A Smile In Your Heart :)))))
that is hauntingly fantastic... chills and thrills
wonderful shot
Is a great capture, but I like the first, due to the oppressive feeling that emanates from it
Well, now it looks a bit like a ruin to me. Still impressing, even more. It's just that the first one had a more mysterious mood on it. I wonder, would the prisoners are in higher spheres? Chuckle ;-)!
Interesting shot, I preferred the first one with the eerie mood !
Superb shot, even without effects!
i also like this one, with its hazy mood
this is cool but the other was art!!! great job
fantastic image
This is also a good presentation, the composition is Xlt, but I like the previous one better. The previous one had mood which is absent in this one. The composition in both is flawless. Good work my friend.
Pales by comparison with the other more dramatic shot...
Wonderful shot and fantastic lighting!!!
Superb shot here, and reminding me of the time I was there in the US and saw this for myself. hugs Jane xx
Great capture showing the light fog!
A fascinating subject and composition! I really like that misty effect to go along with this subject and place.... wonderful artwork!
Looks like a spooky and eerie place. I hear it's haunted too. Your shot captures all of that feeling. Nicely done!
Splendid atmospheric photo.
Interessantes Foto.
So interesting to see this! Thankyou for all your kind comments on my photos!
I was in SF a few days ago and the city and Alcatraz was shrouded with fog .I did get some good shots of the Golden gate
Excellent capture of this place.
love that haze - I do not want to go there!
Amazing!
