Description
Crater Lake NP is truly a weather maker. Even in a low snow year this area is still difficult to access. The entire east side was closed this past week for snow removal. Which meant no ferry rides on the lake. Have tried to hike the crater on Wizard Island for about 15 years now, and have been foiled by high wind, blizzards in July and even one summer the forest fires in the area filled the crater with so much smoke they were asking folks to leave the park. This last trip was the tenth time of my trying, I have not given up yet!
When stitching these 4 images together the end result was 12,000 pixels in width, so it has been reduced drastically to make Rendo's requirements. Do enjoy some of the details in full view, I personally find the skyline outside the park to the Southeast most inspiring.
To the kind souls that leave their mark whether a comment, rating, or save the image as a fav, you are very much appreciated, thank you!!!

cool pov on this pano capture, bet that was a fun hike.
Gorgeous panorama my dear friend, enchanting work!
I was there a million years ago in August, and the rim road was closed due to snow and ice on the road. This is gorgeous ... you make me want to try again! :)
fantastic panorama, great shot
in zoom!!! MAGNIFIC!!!!!
That is so cool i would love to see this myself.
wonderful pano
SPLENDID WORK!
Nice! Excellent panorama! I commented on your Crater Lake photo with the mirrored sky, and mentioned that I hadn't ever captured the lake that way. This is the way the water usually appears in my photos - I guess more often than not there is enough wind to roughen the surface of the water. Still beautiful, though, and this is a stunning shot! Great work!
Stunningly beautiful!
Now that I have zoomed in, I would like to take the real trip as well - but in the mean time, thank you for making it possible Dana, with armchair travel ... Glorious view, BB
Fantastic image and a superb job putting it together. I know about the pixel size and really having to cut down the image to meet requirements. Didn't know they had a ferry on the lake. I tried to drive by in May 2009 and it was closed, for whatever reason.
A wonderful sight in zoom!
An excellent POV and pano Dana. If you want, send me the original and I'll see if the new software I am Beta testing, can resize the pixel density for you!
What a stunning place, no wonder you wanted to visit here so badly, dear Dana. A wonderful place and capture, Hugs for all day. Di. xx
Wow, incredible! The closest I've gotten to being there!
