Description
Yesterday while out for a stroll not far from our house I came upon this handsome fellow. Managed to get a couple of good shots before he spooked and took off. Part of living in the wilderness i would never trade in for folks that live in cities is I much prefer having neighbors like this rather than some of the folks I see on trips to the city.
I hope its been a great weekend for everyone.
Jim
PS, by shots I mean photos, I am not a hunter, I do all my shooting with a Canon Rebel. :)

This city' girl has to drive 2 hours to North Carolina to see elk like this. There is a place there called the Cataloochee Valley where they released over 140 Elk back into the area. They used to roam the area there and were finally eliminated by over hunting. They are now protected. Beautiful picture Jim you are lucky to have such wonderful neighbors.
oh yeah would rather have him as neighbour than the assholes i have now.
splendid capture of an OUTSTANDING and beautiful animal !!!
Nice shot, very cool. I hear you and agree 100%, I much prefer Critters as Neighbors vs People, critters are generally Quiet, Harmless and mind their own bussiness. Peace
Wonderful, Jim! a superb shot. I wish you would show of more of where you live.
This is a wonderful capture of him Jim, it's no wonder you enjoy living there
nice shot,i live border of the mountains in a subburb near montreal canada.there is still a litle wild life remaining but constuction and expansion is chasing them away,to see deers i have to drive 45 minute from my place
Such a majestic and beautiful creature, an amazing capture, Jim~ I have to agree, I've always been more comfortable with critters for neighbors; city crowds just freak me out. Thank you for sharing this gorgeous image =)
Fantastic and beautiful elk! Great capture! I agree with you: I hunt with a camera as well
What a gorgeous looking elk. He looks so beautiful standing so proud in his natural surroundings. Well if you brought this majestic beast to our yard,he could eat till fall with all the rain falling daily the grass grows so fast, and you wouldn't have to mow the lawn. Wonderful photo Jim. Love and Hugs.
Superb capture of this wonderful animal! :) And by capture I mean photo not trapping. ;)
Marvelous capture Jim!
I so wish i had neighbors like this instead of the ones we have here. :( Wonderful portrait! :) Thanks for sharing! :)
so interesting and great to see
What a splendid specimen! Great shot! :)
Exellent shot.
Wowowee. What a trophy shot! Lucky you.
beautiful animal and capture.I know a man that bought a lodge in Montana near the Wyoming border.when he was back for a visit, he told me about the moose there coming up to the window to be hand fed. I was thinking what are you going to do if you are outside and one is not happy because you have nothing to give him
Gorgeous
Cool shot...
Great "shot" of this handsome neighbor. :)
Though I'm a country dweller myself and on occasion a dear may stroll through my back 40 I can say I've never had a Elk walk through...City living isn't for me either..I was born in the country and country is where I will remain...(smiles)...Cool Capture Jim!!
Super shot!!!!!!
excellent capture jim, i agree, but even here just outside suburbia we have critters such as deer in broad daylight! great work!:)*5
