Description

With all the things going on in my life, right now, I am concentrating on commenting and less time on posting. Thank you all, who have noticed my lack of posting, and have site mailed me with concerns. Jo and I are fine just very busy with family. The Screw Pine is of a genus (Pandanus of the family Pandanaceae, the Screw Pine family) of tropical old world trees or shrubs with slender palm like stems, often huge prop roots, and terminal crowns of sword like leaves. These plants are not closely related to palm trees. The fruits are globose, 4 to 8 inches (10 to 20 cm) in diameter, and have many prism like sections, resembling the fruit of the pineapple. Typically, the fruit changes from green to bright orange or red as it matures. The fruit is eaten by birds, bats and rodents. Most info from Wikipedia. Photo taken at the Society of the Four Arts Gardens, Palm Beach, Florida. Do zoom! Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated. Dana

Superb focus and detail in this fabulous fruit foto, Dana! Except for its globular shape, it very much resembles a fir tree pine cone.

My apologies for not noticing as I too have been away for a time...Glad to here all is fine and your attending to family matters rather than health issues Dana...(smiles)... Now about this fruit....lol......I will simply say the name alone is worth a few humorous remarks but I will restrain myself from doing so....Never seen one before and always enjoy what you post and enjoy learning something new.Take care and be well my friend!
