Description

USS Lexington shown here in happier days, in the late 1930's, during the closing months of the "Golden Wings" era. The carrier is over-flown here by Martin T4M-1 "Comet" biplanes (which I've modelled previously in Shade). Relatively huge (16.16m wingspan) and already antiquated, the "Comet" torpedo bombers were soon to be replaced by the slick, albeit disappointing, Douglas "Devastator" monoplane. I just had to reunite the "Comet" and the "Lady Lex." I've been playing with ocean materials in Vue after my "Coral Sea" renders... and an ocean is rather empty without something on it. The wake is created by "submerging" glowing squiggle-shaped meshes and adding a strategically placed volumetric material or two. The crewmen are lo-res shapes I put together in Shade. Thanks for viewing and comments...

Pretty darn good ocean, Brian. It has a nice feeling of the swells against the carrier.

Great job. I love the pre-WW2 era and you have done a wonderful scene representing it here. I love the biplanes and the way you have done the water spray around the bow. That carrier by AliceFromLake really looks nice! Yes please build more.
