Description
FILM 1990.
Waikiki is a strange place. Whilst being polar opposites to the culture and lifestyle on the North Shore of Oahu, it's one hell of a place to visit for a few beers and a laugh! We got this shot after driving to Waikiki, then heading up to the top of the Sheraton! The break here is called Queen's, and whilst being small, it does provide the thrill of getting run over by tourists in outriggers!

You caught it at a great time--before the hoards of people invaded the beach!!
Hideous buildings! I saw a recent documentary explaining the very real threat of development to a lot of the rest of these islands.
Yep!
The Pink Palace (Royal Hawaiian) is a classic old hotel at the bottom of the shot. It's beautiful IMHO, but was always too pricey for a young surf bum like me to contemplate!
Wow! What a view!
Wonderful capture my friend. God Bless.
Without the buildings this is one hell of a view.
agreed with Jayfar..
The famous landscape landmark. Beautiful capture. Aloha
Fantastic view
Splendid view!
outstanding scan
I have visited Waikiki quite a few times and have always enjoyed it. Your experience depends a lot on your expectations. There are a number of things I like to visit again and again, even though it is noisy and touristy. I do like people watching and there is lots of that to be had at very reasonable costs, ha ha! I would go to Waikiki just to eat breakfast every day at Perry's Smorgy, the fresh fruit, the birds, the ambiance, the people, the smells, even the occasional rat (we don't have any in Alberta). Then spend a few hours people watching along the beach, then slip away by car to some overlook.
so agree with Andrea, that place is stunning!!! and bet there are dolphins too??
A great shot Andrew and a climb up into Diamond Head is on my short list!
