Description
Of all the aircraft at the airshow I thought this Gyrocopter was the coolest of them all and brings aviation another step closer to ordinary folk. The principal means of gaining lift is due to the small propeller at the rear. This pushes the craft forward which in turn causes the rotor at the top to turn. The rotor is designed as two aerofoils (wings) which lift the copter. If there is an engine malfunction the pilot can simply put the copter into a glidepath which keeps the aerofoils rotating - making it one of the safest forms of air transport. Not only safer but at $100k almost affordable. Cycling is cheaper still of course!
