Description

This is a do-it-yourself story. Just a generic, low-level, Ploesti-like, early morning bombing run. I wanted to try something with these colors to push the drama. (Everyone in the factories was home celebrating Easter holiday. Even the night watchmen.) B-24J: by Neiwil and free on sharecg.com Various doomed factories free from sketchup warehouse and tweaked for the occasion. Vue6 infinite and some lighting adjustments in PS CS3

Ah yes, the low leval raid on the oil refinery at Ploesti in August 1943 by planes from the 44th Bomb Group...attack led by Leon Johnson flying the B24 Liberator named "Suzy Q" You've captured this really well...I can feel my arse burning from that last blast...Superb! 5*from me

So they dropped some "eggs" did they? Great composition, atmosphere and visual effects. The perspective of the roofline works well.

Planned brilliantly.. Flown daringly! Unfortunately, loses were huge! Flights arriving at the same time, bombs going off on front of other aircraft, massive AA , plus fighters, including Romanian I.A.R's.. If I make it sound like a TOTAL disaster, it wasn't completely.. They returned, later raids were more successful.. Butt as it turned out, the first, the most famous, was the one with biggest loses.. Plus production was almost back normal with a couple of months.. Excellent work mate, I love it.. Neil Lib looks great against those battered factories! lol Rob

So no 3d actors or animals were harmed in the rendering of this image! Stunning as always Bill and it's all here, the motion and explosions with a great early morning gloomy atmosphere. Excellent!

Oh, my! Great job! I thought Ploesti before I had even read your commentary. Great job. I know the photo you have in mind. Sheesh! As debbielove points out, so many things went wrong that first raid. Keep up the good work! :-)
