Description
Minnesota FINALLY gets snow. And we got dumped on. No school for many of us!! (Me included - YAY!) So, I took the dogs out for a romp in the snow.
Here is a photo of my daughter's lovely Border Collie mix. She is a city dog. I LOVE how she runs freely with total glee and abandon when she visits me at the farm.
This captures her personality perfectly. I tracked her motion as she ran. Reminds me of the Indy 500. lol

Congratulations on the long delayed snow, Jodie! All we get around here is boring sunshine everyday. Droughtville. Rain is just a myth. But I digress. Very cool blizzard effects in this shot of the intrepid dog romping up the snowy slope in the face of adversity.

great capture. My pincher tries to run in snow like that, but all you can see is a moving lump. she is very small, nine pounds, so the snow was deeper than she is tall. Love this image.

I got some shots of my dog running in the snow last winter she is also black and white (mostly white) and pretty much got lost in the snow. but she had a blast running through it, hates rain and water though. Cute shot.

In a shot like this, proportions seem to me as important as the subject matter, and your proportions are really fine. All that snow on the bottom brings out the inundation of snow in your part of the midwest, and then you have the dog running up at the very top. The dog's motion has beauty and grace in addition to the fun of it (ie, what one would expect from your work): The rush of hues and snow-lines is very delicate, and I really like the reddish undertone to the hues. But most of all, the general feel of the shot is simple but beautiful. I thought I'd commented on this, but somehow with the heat moving in, this scene looks very lovely about now... (I had an opposite experience in grad school, when I took a countrified dog from my parents, because they were going away: He'd never been in a city before. He froze at stop lights, shook at the cars, couldn't believe the honks and shouts, I had to carry him across a major intersection---he didn't budge---while 100 drivers in rush hour stared at me like I was some major 'pussy' (they called me other things too); and when Pepi finally went to do his business, and huge bus rolled up and tons of people piled out. That was it for him: He didn't do another thing all night. He was in shock. I finally took him back to my parents and said, "you better give him to someone else: This dude'll commit suicide before the week's out, I promise..." Just the reverse of your experience, above...)
