Description
Five bells hang in the belfry above the clock. The four quarter bells strike the Westminster Chimes every quarter hour. The largest bell strikes the hours; officially called The Great Bell of Westminster, it is generally referred to as Big Ben, a nickname of uncertain origins which, over time, has been colloquially applied to the whole tower.

It is very beautiful and majestic Great capture
Your capture is excellent Clive. People are under the impression that when it strikes the hour the noise is deafening but in actual fact it is quite quiet!
nice one
I can say thank you for actually researching this and not referring to the whole thing as Big ben. One of the better shots of St Stephen's Tower great shot Clive
That is a SUPERB pic!
Outstanding photograph!
Wow! Really a stunning capture, this is wonderful!
I don't think I realized how ornate the tower is. Terrific shot!
Excellent image. There was uproar yesterday when it was announced that they were introducing a charge to go up inside.
Cool dude. I was going to ask who Ben was!!!!! I heard that the bells were kept silent during WW1 to avoid the attention of pesky German Zeppelins.
A marvellous icon and your photo is stunning! Well done!
Superb capture Clive. God Bless.

Superb shot, capture ful spirit.
And did you know, its now starting to lean!!!! Yes its true! Because they built an underground car-park near it, its staring to get a slow lean.. But, THE Icon of London I think, beyond dispute.. Great shot Clive! Rob
