Before we started on our hike to Kamehame Beach, a tourist had asked us when was turtle season. I told him I didn’t know and judging by the way people were walking on the sands of Punalu’u Beach, there was no turtles. So off we went and finally reached our Black/Green Sand beach called Kamehame. We were looking for turtles but found none. Only till later did I research and found out that there is a nesting season from June to Dec. But just the same, we left no foot prints on the sand just to make sure we did not disturb anything. Last picture for this area or until turtle nesting season comes. It is a restricted area during nesting time. Caution to hikers, there are large cracks on the trail...don’t fall in.
