Description
The end of the Cretaceous, 65 million years ago, was signaled by a massive extinction event that wiped out the non-avian dinosaurs. Up to 50 percent of the planet's animal and plant species disappeared. Other notable victims included giant marine reptiles, mosasaurs, and the flying pterosaurs. What caused this huge loss of life isn't certain. Climate change is strongly implicated, with global cooling linked to declines in the abundance of some species leading up to the extinction event. It's believed by many that the final killer blow came from a massive meteorite impact, with the fallout plunging the world into darkness for months

Nice image and good job creating it. As for my demise, read - "T.Rex and the Crater of Doom" by prof. Walter Alvarez (professor of geophysics, University of California, Berkeley), Vintage Books 1998, ISBN 0-375-70210-5. Prof. Alvarez did over 15 years of research on the Yucatan crater, braving censure from the anti-catastrophe protagonists in daring to publish the results of his research. Today the catastrophy wipe out theory is generally accepted.
