Description
In the ongoing quest to make Seth not-shiny, I finally got a clue as to what to do. His chest is done and it looks pretty good. It is not shiny and looks more like real skin...but OMG! This almost like doing wiring. If you hook up the wrong things - which is easy to do - then it doesn't look right.
My head hurts...seriously :-p If you drop them all down and spread them out more, then you get a better idea - but I'm not touching those except to look at them, where things are connected. If you're a Poser user, you know what I mean. And YES! I finally painted a goatee on him that looks decent. :D
Will try to catch up on comments real soon. Thank you all for yours and I'm glad you enjoyed Brigid!
Happy Friday and be careful if your weather is bad and you go out!
Cheers,
Rayvn
P.S: BTW, I made an error on the NYX figure. She is made by Ilona and is still available here. see below.

OH MY GOD I FEEL YOU....I love so many aspects of Poser but I have kept defaulting to DAZ out of familiarity for just the above reasons...lol...
i do usually turn of all ambience and transluence to zero and remove alternate diffuse settings. That usually does the job, no need for rewiring. I sometimes dont understand either why most pre-set characters bought on the marketplice, glow like a fire in the darkness. Where the heck is that realistic :) ? I would turn the same thing the other way around i have no glew how i would need to adjust anyhing in D/S so it is just down to what you are used to :)
A program headache... ouch..
I hope you feel better now, Rayvn! :))))
I hope that your headache goes away soon
~Very interesting!~
I know what you mean =)!!
Hope you fell better my friend! I know what you mean, believe me!
OOO that does look complicated..glad your doing it and not me !!!!!
It's that alternate specular/blinn node that is almost certainly causeing the problem. Alternate specular is the node that controls shininess/glossiness. It can be used to create anything from fine worn varnish, pottery glaze of various types, to bright glossy steel. I use it a lot to give shine to metal, wood, and ceramic DM objects, which are usually flat matt based. Anyways, blinn is like worn varnish, and is the least shiny, but for human skin it could be quite shiny. Just disconnect the node and see what happens. It that works but then the skin becomes too flat, then reconnect the node and open up blinn itself. There you will see some settings that you can easily adjust to control intensity. You can also darken it a bit by hitting that blue color on alternate specular and picking a slightly darker shade of blue.
