Description
White Faced Storm Petrels in Australia's deep south. The local ranger told us that photographing these birds can be difficult without a boat as they live entirely on the open ocean, and only come to shore during the breeding season. This was the closest I could get to them with my longest zoom! In this photo, they are sharing a remote shoreline with Silver Gulls (AKA Common S**T Hawks!!!). Unlike the Petrels, Silver Gulls will appear in their kazillions at the slightest smell of a hot chip!!!!!

Hey, my friends of the furry black hats are back!!! Have you noticed that they are sharing with seagulls but they don't talk to them? I see no interaction between the two kinds of birds. great picture! I like the contrast of textures between the water, the sand and the grass. I love color too.

Your Petrels look a lot like our Skimmers. Also very hard to catch on shore. Nice POV from up there.
They sound like Gulls in Britain.. lol Good shot mate! Well taken....without a boat.. lol Rob
