You are so far away I can’t see your face But I can hear your voice I can feel your heart beat We are so much alike We have seen the rains But we were not drowned by them We made it out to the other side And even though it is behind us Sometimes we have to look back The waves were so rough Try as we may We can never put them Completely behind us I whisper in the wind You know it is me And you are better You whisper in the wind I know it is you And I am better

So much of what you write brings back personal memories for me. This reminds me of my best friend in university and all the trials we went through doing field work together. Falling through frozen lakes, nearly freezing to death in the low arctic, smashing up skidoos in the backwoods and having to hike out for miles. And while I thought our friendship would never end ... it did.
