Description
This pretty little butterfly has a wingspan of about 3 inches (7.5 cm). I could not find an ID for it. It is shaped like a longwing? Taken with my trusty old Minolta. Worth a zoom!
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

very beautiful butterfly.it maybe a side shoot of another butterfly.I have heard that they can vary a lot from one area to another even though they are the same species. http://www.butterflywebsite.com/gallery/index.cfm#fri

A pretty shot Dana. Have seen these before but don't know the type.
Such cryptic markings! You can see how it could vanish in the right environment.

How lovely! Excellent shot, Dana!
Very beautiful capture , Dana ! Wonderful butterfly !
I think that it is one of the longwing (heliconia).I don't recall the name of this specific one,but I believe that they are native to Central and south America.A fine shot.
Perfection!!! xx
A super capture of this beautiful butterfly, with its wonderful markings showing so well. It has come out yellow and brown on my monitor but it still looks fantastic.
Resembles a Monarch. Compared to the surrounding foliage, if you hadn't said the colors on the butterfly were black and green, I would have said black and yellow, Dana. Excellent capture, my friend.
Butterfly's will always look like royalty to me, especially with their wings open - like a big cape! and I love the symmetry of that particular pattern, Marvellous capture, Dana BB
