Description
An air plant (epiphyte) is a plant that grows upon another plant (such as a tree) non-parasitically or sometimes upon some other object, such as a building or even an electrical wire. It derives its moisture and nutrients from the air and rain. They are found in the temperate zone (as mosses, liverworts, lichens and algae) and in the tropics (as ferns, cacti, orchids, bromeliads and Spanish moss). Epiphytic plants use photosynthesis for energy. Roots may develop primarily for attachment. They do not root in soil. Info from Wikipedia.
This air plant has attached to a Spine Palm. There is not a lot of information out there about this small palm. It is from Columbia and Venezuela and the spines protect the palm from leaf eating animals.
Thanks for stopping by, taking a look and for all your previous favs and comments. They are very much appreciated.

I never knew that these growths were called air plant's! i always assumed that they were just grass where seeds had been dropped by the bird's. Terrific capture and many thanks for the information.
Beautiful shot my friend

Oh, I LOVE air plants! I had a few when we lived in Florida and I actually didn't kill these plants, LOL...so strange having a plant that doesn't need soil! Such cool and interesting plants!! Great capture!
Oh that looks like it would hurt major if you backed into it. Excellent in details and in capture my friend. :))))) Thank you for sharing. :)))))) Carry A Smile In Your Heart :)))))
Cool flora!! :)
Such a clear photo of it, as I too love the tree where it lives on. Nature is just great! :)
This is a very nice capture of this clever little plant, excellent shot Dana.
Super to see this!¬ I have tried growing them, with little success. But Alan is a professional grower of exotics as you know, I'm sure he knows how!
A wonderful capture, dear Dana. I have only seen very tiny airplants before now. Hugs for all day. Di. xx
looks beautiful and interesting too !!
Thats very strange looking awesome capture.
Amazing capture!
Beautiful , interesting shot ,Dana !
I don't think I would want a home on that prickly tree :o)
Wonderful capture! Some amazing things live on other things. :)
great capture!
Very interesting plant !
marvelous picture!
Very interesting image! Great shot! :)
I've seen spiky trees like that, they look quite dangerous! And I love the epiphyte on it...a match made in heaven!
What a shot! I love all of the different plant textures in this: that plant afro and the spikes make a rather wonderful combination. The light is super as are the colors. I'm particularly taken by the various jagged, straight things in this shot. It's very alive and dynamic and I quite like that a lot.
Really nice shot, love that air plant-they are so trippy!!
Beautiful and interesting photo shot Dana.
Precious image my friend, amazing lighting, superb shot!
Thanks Dana this looks like one I grow Tillandsia Juncea or possibly T tricolor, its great to see one growing wild, the spine palm looks interesting too, I grow some pretty lethal plants but this would come near the top of the list. By the way Spanish moss is a Bromeliad , T usneoides although it doesn't look like one. Thanks again for a great picture.
