The title of this piece borrows a bit from the central concept behind Philip K. Dick's "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" (Blade Runner was the great film adaptation).
It's not difficult to speculate on what would happen to our indestructible and sentient "droids" after the human race has destroyed itself and all our cities are overtaken by vegetation.
The rusted out figure is the modest Andy from Poser 9.

A rather sad and surreal moment. How long did this machine sit in this place and ponder its fate before its power supply finally gave out. Was he there long enough to see a whole new biosphere evolve from nothing after the Earth became sterilized by human folly? Perhaps the rust that was slowly eating away at this droid hibernated until conditions favourable to growth returned. An entire world evolved from rust that survived on the last vestiges of our forgotten civilization.
