Description
As the intruder filled his field of view, the carrier's commander swore and lowered his binoculars.
All hope that this might be some elaborate practical joke disappeared. His pilots would NOT need to be disciplined after all.
He had no idea how to explain any of this- Relatively? String Theory? He did know something with absolute certainty though...

This started as a bit of "re-creation", a Vue render of my old model of Amelia Earhart's Lockheed L10 Electra... (last rendered in Poser) to see how the metal would look and I got carried away... ;-)
The Arleigh Burke destroyer (it is there if you look hard) was a freebie from a 3D magazine
The Nimitz-class carrier and sundry aircraft came via a 3D cataloging site (inria?) I've since lost the link to.

Really cool render of an always intriguing idea. I really like the POV that you chose and the lighting/time of day is wonderfully dramatic. Good thing you mentioned the Arleigh, I would have missed if almost for sure. Very nice work!
