Description
Hylocharis leucotis.
This bird is still considered a rarity in the United States, though I consistently find them in season at Beatty's Guest Ranch, Huachuca Mountains, southern Arizona, USA, which is where I found this one. These birds are common in parts of Mexico.
The Beattys are wonderful hosts, and staying with them is a delight.

Extra-ordinary colors, wonderful light ! You are lucky to observe such a beautiful bird at the feeder ! :~)
wow cool shot
Great catch!
awww, how pretty!!!
The Huachuca Mtns. are considered a sub tropical mountain range as I recall. Similar to mountain ranges in Mexico, other bird species normally not seen in the U.S. can be viewed here. It is trully a beautiful forested area, miss the Apache pines. This is a wondeful, a lot of the iridescence coloring captured!
