Description
Larus heermanni
Found at Lakeside Park, Tucson, Arizona, USA.
They said this bird would be a one day wonder, so I needed to go find him that very day. He was cooperative, less than 10 feet away, and stayed a long time. The next day, as they said, he was gone.
Yep, we have gulls in Arizona. We have lots of beach, but no ocean. So they hang out in or near lakes. This one was my fourth species.

LOL there about 5 billion of them where I live in Australia on this stretch of beach alone, and about half of them are permanently camped either on my roof or at my front door!!!!! But do you know what is funny? With all the beaches for them to choose from, guess where they like the best. An old garbage dump about 10 miles inland!!!!!! But when it's boring at the dump, they all head back down to the beach to get more hot chips! They are lovingly referred to around here as the 'S..T Hawks'!
We get seagulls in Tennessee as well, go figure.. not much sea around my part of the world. Nice capture.
Amazing indeed to discover gulls in Arizona ! I like the birds from the Laridae family but most of the time the different species are very difficult to identify... I think this will be one of my challenges this next winter... Thanks for sharing ! :~)
Nice bird: I lover her haircut (Feathercut?).LOL Here we have Seagulls with yellow beak, and some with black head. Great photo!
