Description
This view is from Casco Vieja (Old Town) of Panama City at low tide and shows the Puente de la Americas (Bridge of the Americas) in the distance. The Puente de la Americas was completed in 1962 and was originally known as the Thatcher Ferry Bridge. It spans the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal and connects the North and South American land masses.

A bridge connecting continents ... wow. That's quite a place! At some point you could stand with one foot in South America and one foot in North America. I'm easily amused, I know, but that is totally cool!

Great capture! :) FYI: North America and South America were connected, the canal is man-made and considered one of the great achievement of the 20th century connecting the Atlantic ocean to the Pacific ocean.

The triste looking sky and weather gives this image a different sort of appeal, from the usual sunny picture postcard panoramas - and doesn't the bridge look like a BIG caterpillar connecting the landmasses of the Americas? nice view, Sig BB
