Amazing image the renewal sounds good but 17 years underground is a stumbling block for me!
An exceptional capture, Kim! Stunning image! :)
WOW! What a fantastic capture this is. You are right, it would be nice to have the skin changed to something new and young looking HAHAHA !

Stunning capture!!!!!
Marvelous capture Kim!!! This is amazing.
Sorry, but I am unfamiliar with these. Am I correct in assuming the younger version has emerged from the old one? I'm confused because the older one appears intact to me.
beautiful macro.as a child we were always hearing their noise and seeing them alive and the old shells, but I never seen one emmerging
Whoa! Talk about great timing! =D How swell to grab such an awesome capture. (I can hear a little bug-voice saying "Hmmmph, some privacy pleeeeaaaaaazzzzzzz!") The detail is incredible. Ya know ya did good with this one. I had fun reading the comments too! ;)
amazing discovery Kim, wow! thanks for sharing.
Awesome!
It splits open along it's upper back, if you zoom you can see the edges where it opened. :) I had to go into the house to get my camera when I saw this or I could have gotten a shot of it while it was squeezing out.
What a shot! I love cicadas, especially the annuals! This one has some of the best colors I've seen...but then they're fresh and new and still damp! Wonderful shot! I love their opera-singing techniques...for as loud as they actually are, hearing them is actually relaxing. Wonderful shot of one of my favorite insects...well...I have zillions of favorite insects, but these are among my favorite docile ones! Excellent work in spotting and capturing this beauty! It's a great dedication, too...
Elegant and beautfiful composition
Spectacular capture Kim, marvelous details and lighting, spectacular work!
What a great capture!!! I love watching these guys burst from their shell and become adults.
Wow I wish I could do that, the old body is feeling a tad ancient today, this is an amazing macro, really well done! hugs Jane xx
