Description
A balcony with a view: these ladies, perhaps mother and daughter, look at the people in the main street going back and forth for the feast. They were happy I took their photo. Their balcony, together with most balconies, windows and lamp posts in La Laguna, sport symbols of fertility and good luck: vegetables, fruit, baskets, colored fabrics, flowing ribbons and tassels. These symbols are as old as European culture itself, and can be seen in Neolithic figurines and Bronze Age mural paintings.
