Description
This meadow is near Tioga Pass, the eastern entrance to Yosemite Park. The elevation here is 9,940-ft, just slightly over 3,000m.
We came to Reno to watch the air races but instead we are driving through Yosemite and checking out the sights.

The two people in the foreground in this picture are Rob, to whom this upload is dedicated, and his son Ryan. The three of us had flown from Phoenix to Reno for the races. Rob had checked the progress of the qualifying heats daily and by Thursday, 'Strega' had hit 499mph. 'Strega' was in the lead in this particular heat when 'Galloping Ghost' crashed on Friday and the races were cancelled. Since the weather was beautiful on Saturday and we had time, we went all the way to Yosemite Valley, where it was crowded. About 80 to 90 percent of all visitors to Yosemite enter the park from the west and never make it across to Tioaga Pass, the east entrance.
The Tioga Pass Road is closed from November to May!

Lovely shot. I remember being appalled by how crowded the valley was when we visited. They still had those tent camps for rent at that time. We stayed one night and then went to Tioga Pass...so much more peaceful and beautiful...looks like it still is.
