Description
Last night I just couldn't seem to stop tinkering with this, and after making the crumbling old blocks I posted, I ended up adding moss and other aging effects. I have to say that the end result, while keeping me awake far later than I ought to have done is probably me favorite background texture I've ever made. Unfortunately I had to crop it down, and the JPEG compression necessary to get it to fit here cost this some details, but you can still get a decent idea of how it looks.
As with the other ones, this didn't come from a photograph, it all started out with the random-noise filter. Many layers, filters, and an awful lot of tinkerings later I ended up with this. The best part was when I added the mossy layers, I'm still admiring the results even today. Now all I need to do is figure out what to use it for!
Thanks for taking a look, and I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Looks great to me. Non-cropped, is it a seamless pattern?
Looks really great, Mike! I like the mossy effect - great texture work!
Looks cool
I like this. You know, when I see abstract and semi-abstract images, my mind goes off in all sorts of directions and with this one, I'm seeing a nicely mysterious narrative--not exactly like the "brick narratives" of Agara, as I've described in past stories, but something similar: whole chunks of data strung together in nice patterns, revealing an entire epic. Needless to say I'm fascinated by this and the previous image! I like the color shift in this one; the mossiness adds a different emotional vibe to this, cooling things down (at least visually) but maintaining a sense of the mysterious.
Love the mossy addition! This looks great! I finally took a picture of that rock stack I mentioned a couple weeks ago, and posted it in my gallery yesterday. Take a look, if you're so inclined. It's not as bold as yours, but it has a nicely quiet grace.
Will make for wonderful texture in future scenes...Time well spent!..(smiles)..
Looks really great. I like it :)
Wonderful light, shadows, and color!!
