Description
A simple image from June, 2010
This frame taken atop the precipice from which this last series of shots have been taken. The funny thing is it was right at my feet. I jockeyed for position all around it getting the landscape shots not realizing what formed the patterns as yet. Finally able to pull my gaze from the expansive vista before me did I realize. There were lichens that have grown and gone from this rock leaving patterns in the stone.

Wonderful patterns and textures!!!!
Gosh! Is that really how those shapes are made? Amazing! They are similar to the shapes left by barnacles and tube-worms and such on sea rocks.
great photography.
The cracking shots are sometimes the simplest ones Dana.

Everything leaves its footprint. Fascinating image. Excellent catch.
Interesting patterns my friend, great capture.
Definitely a beautiful position you had to take this wonderful photograph! I love the texture and the fine details that you have captured for us in your presentation. Always fascinating to see such growth in the most oddest of places.... unexpected and lovely. A terrific view and magnificent lighting, I must add!
nice patterns ! great capture
wonderful photo - well seen
Cool shot. Did you change your online name?
I like how weeds can grow just about anywhere. superb shot
I love seeing the different patterns on rocks. I remember being fascinated by all the patterns on the rocks at Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas. It's very interesting to know what caused the patterns here. Beautiful capture! I love the shapes and the tenacious flowers in the crevice.
The patterns are excellent. This landscape is simply jaw dropping on so many different levels!
Excellent
It's mind-boggling how simple things in life are often by-passed, when Mother Nature does come up with the most interesting details right under our noses, Kudos ;-) BB
What a surprising patterns this made. Anyway a great capture, also with that 'weed'.
great pov; wonderful capture
