Description
Around the bondiho station in Santa Tereza there was much foot traffic. People were standing around, buying, talking, looking, whatever.
But the majority of the crowd went down Rua Almirante Alexandrino toward the colonial church Santa Tereza de Jesus. I assumed that was the goal. But I was wrong, just short of the church were two bars, both open to the street, where everybody went to and bought a glass of beer.
Then most of the people stood outside the bars and socialised. It appeared that they all knew each other, but I doubt that. I didn't understand the purpose or meaning of this gathering, but it was very animated. I don't think anybody came there to get intoxicated.
The date over the entrance of one of the bars read 1900, and I enjoyed looking at these old buildings which were somewhat in disrepair.

I love this image! I imagine the buildings with no people ... and it's an abandoned neighborhood, full of danger. But with the people ... it's vibrant and alive! An excellent capture, my friend. Wow!
