No Steve I use a tripod so I can set it up, slow the shutter speed and hopefully blur the movement out a little. My goal ideally is to blur the fastest walkers but hopefully the still people stay in focus! The feeling of movement varies because I notice people's walking speed varies more than I would have imagined!!!! Who da thunk it!
It works well because I think the street is more interesting than the people in this case, but they give life to the photo without their details being necessary.

This is really stunning work and it makes me long for a plane ticket (and a long flight, but I just bought a new book, so the flight would be tolerable.) I love all of the different tableaus, the different stories. There are so many brilliant colors, so much eye-excitement. I was immediately drawn to the Creperie...and then the small square signs lit from inside; they look so cryptic, so otherworldly (in a good way) and the whole scene just jiggles and jangles and jounces with the kind of life I love to just dive into! This is amazing.
