Description
As illustrator usually I creates artworks for book covers or magazines on demand - as you can see on my website - but I long toyed with the idea to create illustrations of classic science fiction novels to put on the royalty free market, as usual for my spare production.
Here's the cover (the tenth of my "classic sci-fi series" - take a look to the other ones in my Renderosity galley) of "The Forever War", by Joe Haldeman, first published in 1972.
This time I've add also the book title layout to the image because it give more the feeling of a published book cover art.
Rendered in Poser 7, postwork with Photoshop 7 and Dynamic-Photo HDR.
The original file is 2000x3014 pixels.

Marvelous! I've toyed with the idea of doing book covers--not real one's mind you--and so this image really strikes a chord with me. And on top of it all, I've read the novel and I rather like this treatment of its "look." Marvelous work!
great image setup real pitty about the bad texturing of the helmet, the texture is warped etc etc.. looks like its has no UV just texture zones..
Just a totally fantastic character and texture to his face.
Its a joy to see, I dunno if u were aware of it , but to me the character outfit seems a '70s props, this fits perfectly with the time the novel went out. BRAVO
One of my all time favorite novels. Nice rendering of the cover. Haldeman's other work is great as well.
