This one bout killed me, spent hours at 800x400 getting lights set, then setting reflections to make sure they would work, all seemed OK. Rendered at 2600x1300 Hi Res, changed render settings lower for reflects to render faster started Reflects going. 17 hours,No way not even gonna do it, Dinked around with Render and Reflects settings for hours and nothing would speed it up, so I just fogged it up and increased light intensities and did it like this. If anyone tries these params and gets speedy reflects I would sure appreciate knowing what your settings were, I'm going to bed I'm Beat.

These params are the original from where I had reflects rendering fine at medium Res before changing lighting and fog.

I tried downloading it exactly the way the parameters are set Len. It is rendering now. the reflects say they will be just under 2 hours. I'll let it render while i head back to work and wehn I get home will email the finished result to youuntouched so you can put your own name on it. I didnt adjust anything at all from the parameter posted so it is still your image.

I do my longer (4/ 5 hours) render time usually at night, so this morning I see some stupid program decided to restart my computer to boot!! Half way!! Archchchchchch!! I’ve done your image hopefully in the same settings in about one hour now, with reflections. Send you the script, I’ve also a screendump with the settings. Need a mailadres to send it. RS

I feel ya. A lot of head banging goes into this stuff. The one you posted is pretty awesome. It's very convincing in it's realism...the lighting and shadows are perfect.

Yes indeed, particularly since in the "real universe" reflects happen at the speed of light. I think we are missing something fundamental, but it is beyond me. Take heart, though, one day we will all have Holo-Decks to play around in. Notwithstanding your chagrin, however, this is still, in my opinion, an outstanding piece.
