I'm learning a bit of a lesson with these characters in that, you should never try to use characters that you don't have a lot of background already done with. As such, I'm having a hard time writing these bios. Faith was tough, but turned out well as the no-nonsense type with a carefully guarded past, but with her right-hand gal Joy here I honestly couldn't think of anything better than stereotypes, even though I tried to play it up in the bio that she wasn't one, LOL! Sorry for the bad writing on my part, I usually try not to create characters like this, but sometimes it can't be helped & I hope that I'm not offending anyone. Joy is a half-Asian workaholic with her Asian-half being Korean from her mother’s side and her father’s nationality being unknown, but most likely being Caucasian, as she really doesn’t have any African or Latina features, and her last name is Taylor, which could hint at either of the former, but definitely not the latter. But, racial origins aside, this doesn’t really give us any clues as to where it is that she could actually originate from. She has a personality very similar to Faith’s except for the fact that unlike Faith, she doesn’t know how to let loose, and is pretty much all business all of the time, making her name a bit of a misnomer ironically. But, I guess it just means that she finds “joy” in her work and nothing else, so it is fitting after all. So, if we look at just her personality, since she’s all work and no play, then she could be from the same general Northeastern U.S. as Faith. But, if we go by real-world population data for where the largest concentrations of Korean-Americans are, we find that they are mostly in the states of New York, California and Texas. And, I don’t see any reason not to have this apply to the fictional-future setting of the CSCU as well. There is also, the fact that she’s a gung-ho Marine, and regularly enjoys practicing her marksmanship and battle tactics. So, judging by this I would say that it’s most likely that she is from somewhere is Texas more than from either New York or California.
