Description

Here I've tried my hand at some big junks in Shade 10.5...Rendered in Vue 8 Espirit. I tweaked the wakes a bit in Painter. In the early decades of 15th Century, China's then Emperor despatched a series of incredible naval expeditions through SE Asia into the Indian Ocean and on to Africa and the Arab world, led by Admiral Zheng He (a Muslim). Accounts of Zheng He's biggest junks, the famed "Treasure Ships," report nine masts on hulls up to a few hundred metres long- the "supertankers" of their day. This model is probably far too sleek, and the masts too high- but I was rather taken by the idea of having the ships resemble hands.
