Description

TG2, on a planet somewhere in outer space... full view recommended. The terrain is one of my old Bryce terrains with procedural displacements. Starfield background by moodflow with some tweaks, DandelO's larch trees and xfrog trees, grid for the skyscrapers is a bitmap from Markal. Some postwork in Photoshop and Picture Publisher: colour and contrast tweaked, frame and signature added. Thanks for stopping by, and many thanks for your comments and critics on my previous render "Wadi". They were very much appreciated, and I agree to those saying the caravan is off scale - I felt there was something wrong but couldn't really get what it was.

Very good scene! I like the the low position of the sun. These long shadows of the trees. Combined with the very large scale of the star fields or galaxy nebular forms. Babel seems to be the bridge ... :-)

@masonspappy: What if I'm on a planet more close to the center of the milky way where it has a much higher amount of stars with stronger light, and the sunlight is actually moonlight, reflecting from a full moon? harrumph ;-)

So I said in an earlier post, "The landscape is fascinating and reminds me of a movie scene I saw years ago. I can't quite reconcile the starfield with the sunlit landscape. Typically, sunlight + atmosphere would obscure starlight." To which Sue replied:"@masonspappy: What if I'm on a planet more close to the center of the milky way where it has a much higher amount of stars with stronger light, and the sunlight is actually moonlight, reflecting from a full moon? harrumph ;-)" which made me rethink my original commeny. And she's right!

Like towers of Babylon, these are amazing structures,... strange enough! I have a feeling that the light falls upon the surface under small angle all the time. So, this is a world of long shadows and many semi-dark places, and maybe only the high structures catch more light, but who knows if it is enough. Visiting this planet, well, yes, but living there, no, for sure. You did very suggestive and convincing scene Susanne!
